Find the type approval number

Don't know your tyre size? The number from the vehicle registration card is sufficient - we will do the assignment.

Example: 205/55 R16 · VW Golf · 1OC253 — the number is shown in field 24 of the registration document

Don't know the tyre size? Choose the vehicle step by step
One number instead of six details

The type approval number can be found on your Swiss vehicle ID card Number 24, during type approval. She looks like 1OC253 — one number, two letters, three numbers.

With it you don't have to choose the size, brand or engine: the number denotes exactly one vehicle version and the approved tyre sizes depend on it.

This is how you find the number

  1. Get vehicle ID card

The gray ID that you carry in the car. Not the driver's license.

  2. Open number 24

The type approval is there: a short combination of numbers and letters, such as 1OC253 or 1SK123.

  3. Enter

Type them below. Upper and lower case letters don't matter.

  4. Check sizes

You can see the tyre sizes approved for your vehicle - usually several, often across different inch sizes.

Three paths, one field

The search field recognizes what you mean by the input itself. You don't have to switch anything.

205/55 R16

The size directly. 205 55 16 is also understood.

1OC253

The type approval number from the vehicle registration document.

VW Golf

Make and model. We then ask for the year of manufacture, body and engine.

If you don't have your ID to hand

“Select step by step” can be opened under the search field. There you go through the make, model, year, body and engine - without any numbers.

The path is longer, but leads to the same result. The year of manufacture comes before the type code because no one knows whether their Golf is an AU or a CD.

The other way: read from the flank

If the car is at the door, you can do it without paper. The size is written on the side of each tyre, approximately 205/55 R16 91V. You can enter this information directly.

Two caveats: the car may already have tyres of a different approved size installed, and it may — accidentally — have the wrong tyres installed. The type approval is binding, not the tyre that is currently on it.

The type approval remains binding

Our assignment is an aid, not an approval. Only sizes that are approved for your vehicle may be installed - the type approval says what that is.

If in doubt, ask us or your garage before ordering.
