Tyres delivered: what to check before fitting
The delivery has arrived and the appointment is booked. A few minutes checking it are well spent. Identifying a difference early makes it easier to establish what was ordered and supplied before the tyres are fitted.
Start with the order, not the photograph
Compare the confirmation with the goods: brand, model, size, load and speed ratings, and agreed additional specifications. Check quantity and any different front and rear versions.
A manufacturer image can illustrate several sizes in one range. Sidewall details and the label matter more for identification than the angle or rim in the photograph. EAN and manufacturer part number can help, without replacing the other checks.
Describe differences precisely
“It looks different” leaves many questions. Photographs of the complete sidewall description, label and relevant area, together with the order number, are more helpful. Explain whether you found a different size or marking, a missing item or visible damage.
Do not simply fit an unclear or visibly damaged delivery. Clarify the next step with the seller and, where appropriate, the workshop. Your external inspection cannot replace professional assessment of possible structural damage.
Put labels and dates in context
If necessary, compare the label with the exact article. Our label guide explains the information and its connection to the registered type. A similar model’s label is not automatically the correct comparison.
Production date is another piece of information, not a complete quality assessment. Document it if it was covered by a specific agreement or you have a question. Do not infer a universal expiry date or a promise of a particular production week.
Direct workshop deliveries still need checking
Agree who will identify the goods and compare them with the order before fitting. For staggered sizes, communicate the axle allocation. The workshop should not need to guess it from an incomplete message.
Current VANTIQ conditions govern complaints and returns; this checklist creates no additional return entitlement. Incorrectly ordered, fault-free goods are different from an incorrect delivery. Use Contact with the order number and a concise description, keeping photographs ready for further clarification.
