Michelin CrossClimate – versatile all-season tire
The first-generation Michelin CrossClimate combines summery stability with additional suitability for winter conditions. It is aimed at drivers who want to drive in temperate regions without changing tires seasonally if possible. The concept is particularly suitable for predictable everyday journeys, commutes and moderate annual mileage. An existing manufacturer marking such as AO indicates a version adapted to specific vehicle requirements; when selecting, this should be taken into account, as should dimension, load capacity and speed index. The concept reduces the organizational effort of seasonal changes and is particularly suitable for moderate annual mileage and predictable operating conditions.
In the Swiss Plateau, an all-season tire can be a practical solution, provided the driving profile and weather conditions are suitable. For frequent journeys to high alpine areas, persistent deep snow or particularly sporty summer drives, specialized seasonal tires remain the more targeted choice. Even with winter markings, speed and distance must be adjusted on snow, ice and wet roads. Regular checks of tire pressure, tread depth and tire age help to maintain the intended properties over the service life. An all-season tire remains a conscious compromise: In extreme summer heat or persistently demanding winter conditions, special tires offer greater reserves.
The directional tread of the CrossClimate combines stable tread blocks with V-shaped drainage channels. This should enable the tire to react precisely on dry roads and to channel water and slush away from the contact patch. Sipes support grip in winter conditions. The specific EU label value can vary between dimensions and special versions. Therefore, the information on the selected product and the vehicle manufacturer's approvals are binding, not just the model name.

What 225/55 R18 102V means
The symbols on the sidewall are not a secret code. Select a symbol and the diagram shows the corresponding measurement.
Tread width
The tread width in millimetres. A wider tyre offers more cornering grip, but also more rolling resistance and usually more noise.
