Assessment

Uniroyal RainExpert – Summer Tires from an Early Generation of Rain Tires

The Uniroyal RainExpert is an older summer tire for passenger cars with a focus on water displacement. It is designed for mild to warm temperatures on dry and especially on wet roads. It excels in mild to warm temperatures when the tread and compound are within the intended working range for summer road conditions. Therefore, when making your selection, not only the correct size matters, but also the actual use between city traffic, country roads, and longer highway stretches. The balanced concept is aimed at drivers who value understandable everyday characteristics more highly than individual extreme values.

It is only suitable for summer road operation if it has the correct dimensions and is in sufficient condition. For snow and ice, suitable winter tires are required; the seasonal change should be made in good time. Below winter temperatures, a summer tire loses elasticity due to its design; a timely seasonal change therefore remains safety-relevant. Tire pressure, tread depth, load, and driving style significantly influence real behavior and should be checked regularly. Even a high-quality tire cannot overcome the physical limits in standing water, rapidly changing surfaces, or abrupt driving maneuvers.

Grooves and tread blocks support wet control; technologies of current RainExpert models are not transferred unchecked. EU label values and special versions are dimension-dependent and must be checked on the specific item. Braking distance, rolling resistance, and rolling noise can differ between two visually similar dimensions and must not be generally derived from the model name. Which EU label values apply depends on the dimension, load and speed index, and the respective special version. Therefore, for ordering, the information in the vehicle registration document, on the sidewall, and in the vehicle manufacturer's approval remains decisive.

What 205/60 R15 91W means

The symbols on the sidewall are not a secret code. Select a symbol and the diagram shows the corresponding measurement.

Tread width

The tread width in millimetres. A wider tyre offers more cornering grip, but also more rolling resistance and usually more noise.
